What is the Massawippi Retirement Communities (MRC)?

MRC is a private, non-profit, charitable corporation which includes Grace Village (formerly Grace Christian Home) and formerly Connaught Home, which have been serving Quebec’s Eastern Townships since 1957. Founded by Dr. W. J. Klinck and a group of devoted Townshippers, the homes are now operated by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Our Residents

The MRC serves residents from the Eastern Townships, and from as far away as Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and beyond. All are welcome. We have staff that speak French and English, and some speak a third language.

Does the MRC receive government funding?

Currently the MRC does not receive government funding, we benefit from an excellent working relationship with government health care practitioners and social workers as part of our multi-disciplinary team. Residents, however, are often eligible for government funding, and the MRC is available to help residents in their applications. MRC is open to future partnerships with the government should they arise.

What is the Dr. W. J. Klinck Foundation?

The Foundation was created in honour of Dr. W. J. Klinck, who founded the homes and remained devoted to their cause right up to his passing. Dr. Klinck was a devoted Christian who lived out his faith by caring for others. An Order of Canada recipient, he was a highly respected community leader and reputable physician who cared for thousands of Townshippers through the Sherbrooke Hospital, our homes and through his many house calls.  The sole purpose of the Foundation that now bears Dr. Klinck’s name is to support the care of seniors through Massawippi Retirement Communities, including those who cannot afford the cost of care. Your donation to the Dr. W. J. Klinck Foundation will ensure that the generosity Dr. Klinck and others demonstrated and counted on through the years will continue to play a key role in the survival of these two very important institutions for our community.
